Canned Cat Food for Sale in Hong Kong
Cats are carnivores, in nature, they absorb moisture naturally from the prey (the fresh meat and blood provide enough water to the cats). Commercial dry cat food is very low in moisture level, they are also processed under high temperature and high pressure so some nutrients are lost and food flavor may change. Pet food manufacturers add vitamin and mineral mixture to the kibble and spray them with flavor enhancer and / or oil in the last step of manufacturing process. Canned cat food is less processed than dry cat food, so they can retain more nutrients. The high meat content in canned food also makes them more appealing. Canned food has a longer shelf life due to the air tight packaging. The broth / gravy in canned food is not only attractive to the cats but provide moisture as well.
There are two types of canned cat food. One is complete and balanced with added vitamins and minerals. The other is made with only food ingredients without added vitamins and minerals. This type of canned food is for supplementary feeding. The complete and balanced canned food can be fed as the sole diet whereas the ones for supplementary feeding should be mixed with complete and balanced dry food or canned food.
Canned cat food has a lot of variety from chicken, beef, lamb, duck, turkey to all sorts of seafood (crab, prawn, mussel) and fish. Don't spoil your cat by feeding only one flavor. Having a diverse variety of food is important to good health.
Canned food has to be consumed within an hour or removed to avoid bacterial growth (the moisture level in canned food encourages bacterial growth at room temperature). Opened canned food can be stored in refrigerator for 2-3 days. Many cats do not like to eat canned food that has been refrigerated. Try warming the food by immersing the container / bowl in hot water for 10-15 min or warming it at low temperature in an oven for 2-3 min. The idea is to warm it to room temperature without heating it which may change the flavor.
